UDC Update: Full Draft Text Now Available!

Happy Friday! We’re excited to share that the first full public draft of the Memphis and Shelby County Unified Development Code is now available at the link here! At the start of this process, we set out to create a lean, modern code that simplifies administration and enforces clear, logical rules for development. Not only does this draft reduce the word count of the UDC by 45%, but it will also help us build the types of vibrant, livable communities Memphians deserve.

We think this draft is close, but we know it’s not quite perfect yet. We need your feedback to get it over the finish line. As you dig into the draft, send us your thoughts and questions to zoning@memphistn.gov. Or, drop us a comment via our comment form here. You can also find a variety of supplemental materials on the documents and presentations page of 901UDCUpdate.com.

What’s Next?

We’re going to continue polishing up both the draft text and map in preparation to seek approval this summer. In fact, we plan to push an update to the draft zoning map in the coming weeks, taking into account the feedback we’ve received online and at our public meetings. As always, the best way to keep up with the process is via the project website, 901UDCUpdate.com.

Thanks for being involved in this process; we couldn’t do it without the important feedback provided by you and your neighbors across the City and County. We look forward to continuing to hear from you as we move forward.
